The Railway Cluster of Sweden has grown and developed since its formation in 2013 as a collaborative platform for local and regional companies in the train and railway industry. The cluster currently has 37 member companies operating in train manufacturing, component and system supply, infrastructure, engineering and education consulting, as well as providers of operation and maintenance services.

We believe in the power of innovation and technology to drive sustainable development in the railway industry. By working to increase collaboration between international railway clusters, member companies, universities, and research institutions, we aim to promote research and development of new, sustainable railway technologies and solutions.

The cluster's location, Västmanland County, constitutes an important development hub with test tracks and several major multinational companies involved in railway research and development, as well as smaller businesses.

The Railway Cluster of Sweden actively works to strengthen cluster collaborations and got cluster certified at the EU level in 2022. Additionally, we were involved in founding Clusters of Sweden, an organization that promotes collaboration and development of clusters across industries. The Railway Cluster of Sweden also participated in the establishment of ERCI (European Railway Cluster Initiative).
